Penn State Opens as Field Goal Favorite Over Arkansas in the Outback Bowl

Arkansas jumped out to a fast start this season, rising into the Top 10, before falling back to earth after consecutive losses to Georgia and Ole Miss in early October. However, the Razorbacks’ resurgence in Sam Pittman’s second season is undeniable.

With a strong quarterback in KJ Jefferson at the helm, four running backs who have rushed for just about 500 yards this season and one of the better wide receivers in college football, Arkansas has a balanced offense. And the defense is no slouch either.

However, Penn State has still opened as a favorite over the Razorbacks in the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Jan. 1, 2022, at noon.

DraftKings has set the Nittany Lions as a three-point favorite against Arkansas, with a bet against the spread for the Lions holding -105 odds with the same for Arkansas holding -115 odds. The over/under has been set at 46.5 points, with both options holding -110 odds.

A money line bet for Penn State holds -145 odds while the same for Arkansas holds +125 odds.

FanDuels set the line just a bit tighter than DraftKings, giving the Lions a 2.5-point favorite spot. A bet against the spread for the Lions holds -115 odds while the same for Arkansas holds -105 odds. An over/under set at 46 points holds -110 odds for either option.

A money line bet for Penn State holds -134 odds while the same for Arkansas holds +110 odds.

Penn State and Arkansas will meet for the first time at the Outback Bowl, and one program will jump to a 1.000 win percentage against the other. Yes, even with that rich history. The Razorbacks are 7-4-1 against the spread this season.

Penn State and Arkansas will open the 2022 college football year, with a noon kickoff that’ll be shown on ESPN2.
