Former Penn State Great Stefen Wisniewski Retires From The NFL

A former Pittsburgh Central Catholic and Penn State great has decided to hang up his football cleats.

Former Nittany Lion offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski announced on Thursday that he was retiring from the NFL after 10 seasons. The 32-year old made the announcement in a video on Twitter.

“After 10 seasons in the NFL, I’m retiring,” said Wisniewski. “I absolutely loved playing the game of football, but after 10 years, my body, my mind and my heart are telling me it’s time to move on.”

During his time in State College, Wisniewski was named an All-American following his senior season in 2010 and also became the first Penn State student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American three times (2008, 2009 and 2010). Following his standout college career, Wisniewski was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. After four seasons with the Raiders, Wisniewski went on to then play for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2015), Philadelphia Eagles (2016-18), Kansas City Chiefs (2019) and finished his career last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chiefs.

During his 10-year career, Wisniewski played in 139 games, made 106 starts and played in three Super Bowls (Eagles and Chiefs twice).
