Trying to place Journey as a “poster child” for ‘80’s music leaves me wanting. Man, you missed a lot, poor guy. Luckily, I was exposed to so much more: The Pretenders, Talking Heads, Squeeze, U2, REM, B-52’s, XTC, The Smiths, the Psychedelic Furs, INXS etc. We were breaking free of the dreck of Disco (some of these guys began the rescue effort in the late ‘70’s), looking for more than another playing of Led Zeppelin IV or Who’s Next. Yes, these artists made few appearances with Casey Kasem, but that was the point! Journey had a few decent songs, but we’re talking serious cheese here!

Boooo! Dislike! LOL. Hey, if Casey Kasem didn’t play it, then it doesn’t exist for me. I’m kidding, but only partially. I love my mainstream music from the late 70s (not disco) and early 80s.
Thanks for listening to the podcast at least! Call in and tell me your music.
