Update: 9:50 a.m.
**The Saint Francis men’s basketball team went on a 19-0 run in the second half to blow open what had been a tie game and went on to rout Sacred Heart on Thursday, 76-58.
The game was tied at 48 before the Red Flash exploded on the big run. The Red Flash improved to 2-4 in the Northeast Conference and 3-7 overall.
“I thought it was a great team win. We got contributions from a lot of guys,” SFU coach Rob Krimmel said in a school release. “We got off to a good start in the first half, and how we finished that half was an important step for us.
“In the second half, I called a timeout, because we had just given up a four-point play and I was a little concerned with our guys’ body language … I wanted to make sure our guys understood there was a lot of basketball left. We ran into some foul trouble, but I thought we got some great lifts when we changed the lineup a bit in the second half. I thought we really took a step tonight as a team.”
Maxwell Land led Saint Francis with 14 points, while Ramiir Dixon-Conover had 12 and Bryce Laskey 11. Redshirt freshman Josh Cohen had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The two teams play again today at 4 p.m.
