This may not go over well in Pittsburgh, but …
Syracuse is +21.5 at Pitt, and I’ll take the Orange to cover. Barely.
The Panthers looked awesome in annihilating lowly Austin Peay last week, 55-0. The Orange gave a strong effort for three quarters, trailing 10-6, before falling apart in the fourth of their 31-6 loss at North Carolina.
I have little doubt Pitt will win this game. The Panthers have tons of talent.
I know, I know, Pitt fans will say, “Oh look, a Penn State writer picking against Pitt! Of course.”
For the record, the Panthers are very good this season. And yes, Syracuse is down.
Still, games in this series are usually close. Pitt won’t play quite so lights out again, and I predict the Orange offense will be a little better this week. And by the way, a whole bunch of national prognosticators are taking the Orange plus the 21.5 points, so it’s not just the crazy PSU writer!
Score prediction: Pitt 34, Syracuse 13 (for the 1/2-point cover)
