Penn State Lands First Transfer Commit

Penn State has secured its first transfer commit of portal season.

Former Xavier forward Kachi Nzeh announced his commitment to Mike Rhodes and the Nittany Lions on social media Saturday.

Nzeh, a former three-star recruit, entered the transfer portal on March 21, three days after the portal officially opened for business.

A 6-foot-8, 230-pound big from Upper Darby, PA, Nzeh started four of the 19 games he played during his freshman campaign this past season. He averaged both 2.5 points and rebounds in 10 minutes per game, an average that jumped significantly late in the season.

Nzeh started against Georgetown on March 2 and played his best game as a Musketeer. In 28 minutes, Nzeh scored a career-high 13 points on 5-5 shooting and 3-4 at the free-throw line. He scored six points in 13 minutes during Xavier’s first-round loss to Georgia in the NIT.

Penn State lost guards Kanye Clary and Bragi Guomundsson, plus forward Favor Aire to the transfer portal earlier this month. The Nittany Lions closed Rhodes’ first season 16-17 and 9-11 in the Big Ten.

Senior Puff Johnson will return to Penn State next season, but many holes remain to be filled in the portal.
