One of Penn State football’s top Class of 2025 recruits is coming back to Happy Valley.
Former four-star defensive end Dayshaun Burnett announced Saturday that he’s returning to Penn State.
“Let’s run it back 💙🤍 #WEARE,” Burnett said on Twitter.
A Pittsburgh native and graduate of Imani Christian High School, Burnett redshirted his freshman year.
Burnett didn’t appear in a game this season. He opted to come back to Penn State and not enter the transfer portal the same day redshirt sophomore running back Cam Wallace exited the portal to return.
Burnett chose Penn State over Rutgers and nearby recruiting rivals and Power 4 programs Pitt and West Virginia.
He was a three-year captain at Imani and was a first-team All-State honoree in AA during the 2023 season.
Penn State lists Burnett as a defensive end, but he was ranked as the No. 12 inside linebacker and No. 13 player in the state during the recruiting process.
Matt Campbell and PSU hired UCLA’s Ikaika Malloe as its new defensive line coach.
The transfer portal opened for a single 15-day window on January 2 and remains open until January 16 for Penn State to add to its roster.
