Penn State is getting a visit from one of the top un-committed WPIAL recruits from the Class of 2027.
Nittany Sports Now can confirm that McKeesport star Javien Robinson will be in Beaver Stadium for Saturday’s game against Florida International.
This is a big-time target.
Robinson is a four-star receiver who is the No. 100 overall player in the country from his class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. 247 also has him as the No. 15 receiver in the country and the No. 6 player in Pennsylvania.
Penn State already has commitments from the No. 1 (Kemon Spell), No. 2 (Khalil Taylor) and No. 4 (Gabe Jenkins) players in the state, and all three of them are from the WPIAL.
Spell, in particular, is connected with Robinson since they are teammates at McKeesport High School.
Penn State fans will be happy to know that Spell will also be in the building Saturday. Although he’s been committed for more than a year, it’s no secret that other teams have been after Spell.
Initially, Spell didn’t play to be back in Happy Valley until the White Out Game Sept. 27 against Oregon. But Nittany Sports Now can confirm On3’s earlier report that plans have changed, and Spell will be there Saturday.
So, too, will the WPIAL’s top Class of 2026 player.
Matt Sieg committed to Penn State last November, and has fended off other offers to keep that commitment to this recruiting class.
Sieg told NSN last month that he plans on going to every Penn State home game. He’s one of two WPIAL commits for the Class of 2026, with three-star DB David Davis being the other.
But 2027 has the potential to be Penn State’s biggest WPIAL coup ever.
Spell is already a five-star, and Taylor, the No. 53 player in the country per 247Composite, could be getting there soon. Getting a commit from Robinson— who also has offers from schools such as Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Robinson is the top un-committed WPIAL prospect from his recruiting class and the No. 3 un-committed player from Pennsylvania, so Penn State could use him. The two ahead of him are Matthew Gregory (Pottstown) and Maxwell Hiller (Coatesville), both Penn State targets.
Penn State-FIU is scheduled to begin at noon on the Big Ten Network.
