State College – Drew Allar could have been a first-round pick in last year’s NFL Draft. Instead, Allar announced before the College Football Playoff that he intended to return for his senior season.

The decision was followed by running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, center Nick Dawkins, defensive tackle Zane Durant, pass rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton, and others planning to run it back and chase a national championship.

Two days of preseason camp have gone by as the Nittany Lions prepare for a season with significant expectations. Head coach James Franklin said on Saturday that they’re no different than expectations always are in the Lasch Football Building each day: to win a national title for the first time since 1986.

Allar spoke on how he manages expectations, his relationship with Andy Kotelnicki, and preparing for the 2025 season.
