Penn State Wrestling Earns 1st ‘27 Commitment

For Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson, PSU football legend Saquon Barkley is “a beast.”

Penn State wrestling has its first Class of 2027 commitment, and it’s a big one.

On the Locked On Nittany Lions podcast hosted by Zach Seyko, Landon Sidun, the No. 2 wrestler in the Class of 2027, announced his commitment to Penn State.

Sidun is 72-2 through two seasons at Norwin High School, having won a state title at the 114-pound weight class as a true freshman in 2023-24. He likely would have repeated this season, having won his first 30 matches, but he didn’t get the chance due to injury. Of those 13 wins, 13 of them were via tech fall, eight of them were via pin and another one was a major decision.

Penn State is also in the mix for the No. 1 Class of 2027 recruit, Melvin Miller, the half-brother of 2026 No. 1 recruit Bo Bassett, who just de-committed from Iowa.

As of now, Sidun projects to compete at either 125 or 133 in college.
