Could Penn State football’s 2027 recruiting class end up featuring one of America’s best prep QBs?
This, of course, remains to be seen.
But Penn State likes Peter Bourque and Peter Bourque likes Penn State.
Penn State offered the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder last July while he was visiting during “Lasch Bash weekend.” He returned to PSU in late November for the team’s win regular-season finale against Maryland and came back this past Friday for a spring practice.
After the visit, Bourque talked with On3Sports about his latest experience.
WHAT BOURQUE SAID
Here’s what Bourque told On3 about his visit.
“Another great trip to Penn State,” Bourque said. “The culture always stands out. Great people from the top on down in the program.”
The way Penn State structures its practices also impressed Bourque.
“It was awesome to see how they plan and practice,” he said. (QB) Coach (Danny) O’Brien is phenomenal and they made a huge addition to the quarterback room bringing Trace McSorely in. I loved spending time and talking football with them.”
Penn State’s QB room is pretty solid at the moment. With Drew Allar back for Year 4 and backups Ethan Grunkemeyer and Jaxon Smolik each impressing, things are looking pretty good.
“The makeup of the quarterback room is great and an environment I would thrive in,” he said. “Everyone is close but compete hard with each other every day.”
Bourque is also a big James Franklin fan.
“Every time we are there Coach Franklin makes sure to make me feel like a priority for the program,” Bourque said. “We all talked about the building blocks already coming together in what will be a top 2027 class. There was a super talented group of recruits and commits on campus.”
“Penn State is a program set up to win now and in the years ahead.”
HOW GOOD IS BOURQUE
So how good is Peter Bourque?
Well, On3 has him as the No. 49 overall player in the country, the No. 6 QB in the land and the top overall player in Massachusetts.
Before Bourque can worry too much about where he will play in college, he has two years left at The Tabor School in Massachusetts.
Penn State football’s 2027 recruiting class currently has three commits.
