In recruiting news, Penn State just keeps getting it done in Western PA, and the latest commit is one of the best prospects in Pittsburgh’s City League.

Recruiting Update: Penn State Lands Another Pittsburgh Prospect

David Davis, a four-star ATH from Imani Christina Academy, announced his decision to commit to Penn State toward the end of March.

This decision didn’t come as a surprise.

Penn State was the first school to offer Davis, doing so in September 2022, when he was still a true freshman. The school kept on Davis as he continued to make a name for himself, and now, he’s committed.

For Davis, academics were a big factor in choosing Penn State.

“First and foremost, the strong academic reputation and the opportunities for personal growth were huge draws,” Davis told NSN.

Of course, the team had to sell itself, too.

“I also felt a strong connection to the football program and the culture of excellence that Coach Franklin has built,” Davis said. “The facilities and support for athletes are top-notch, which made me feel like I could really thrive there.”

Davis has built a strong bond with head coach James Franklin and associate head coach Terry Smith.

“They’ve been supportive and have taken the time to get to know me as a player and a person,” he said. “They’ve shared their vision for the program and how I can fit into that. They emphasized the importance of hard work and dedication, and I appreciate their commitment to developing players both on and off the field.”

Davis said Penn State sees him as a safety for now but currently doesn’t have a locked in position for him.

Penn State loves the way Davis plays.

“In terms of my play style, they like my aggressive approach and my ability to make quick decisions under pressure,” he said. “They believe that my skill set will complement the existing team dynamics well.”

Davis already has relationships with some current Penn State players.

True freshman DE Dayshaun Burnett was his teammate at Imani Christian for three seasons.

Davis also knows LB Anthony Speca, who’s going into his second season and played in the WPIAL at Pittsburgh Central Catholic, and another true freshman in RB Tikey Hayes, who played at Aliquippa.

So what does Davis feel makes him standout.

“I bring a strong work ethic and a passion for the game that I believe sets me apart,” he said. “I’m always looking to improve and push my limits, and I’m excited to bring that energy to Penn State
