In recruiting news, Penn State has added to its 2026 class on the first day of 2025 spring ball.

David Davis, a four-star from Pittsburgh’s Imani Christian Academy, announced on social media that he’s committed to Penn State.

Penn State had been the favorite for Davis for a while.

PSU was the first school to offer Davis, doing so in September 2022 when he was early in his freshman year. Since then, Penn State has stayed on Davis’ radar. The 6-foot, 190-pounder also had offers from Akron, Cincinnati, Kent State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Pitt, Tennesse, Toledo and West Virginia.

WHAT DAVIS LIKES ABOUT PENN STATE

Here’s what Davis likes about Penn State, per an interview he did with 247Sports.

“Penn State has a culture and a vibe most don’t,” Davis said. “I continue to be impressed by the family atmosphere at Penn State and the dedication to academics and athletics.”

Davis was also pleased with the team hiring Jim Knowles from Ohio State as defensive coordinator.

“Under coach Knowles, Penn State’s defense will be aggressive and disciplined,” Davis said. “I think my skills and playing style would fit well in their system, especially with their focus on strong and adaptable defenders.”

THE SCOUTING REPORT

Here’s a scouting report on Davis, courtesy of 247’s national scouting analyst, Hudson Standish.

“Pittsburgh Imani Christian Academy athlete David Davis is one of the more dynamic two-way playmakers in Pennsylvania for the 2026 recruiting cycle,” Standish wrote. “The verified 5-foot-10, 180-pounder played a bit of everything as a junior in Imani Christian’s 11-1 campaign, scoring multiple times in the return game, on defense, and at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver on offense.

“Davis is a smooth mover with an upright running style that can glide past defenders while redirecting in the open field, and those same traits translate to the defensive side of the ball working in his backpedal. While Davis currently holds an athlete designation by 247Sports, his junior tape paired with his offseason combine testing from 2024 leads us to believe defensive back will be the most likely role at the next level as his versatile skill set could allow him to play multiple spots along the back end of the defense.”

Penn State now has nine players committed to its 2026 recruiting Class.
