Penn State is out of the running for a quality receiver who entered the transfer portal earlier this week.
Per Pete Nakos of On3Sports, Kevin Concepcion, who is transferring from NC State, has narrowed his list down to six schools.
Penn State is not one of them.
Instead, the 2023 ACC Freshman of the Year is down to Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Miami, South Carolina and Texas A&M. Penn State had previously been in the running for the 5-foot-11, 187-pounder but PSU did not make his updated list.
NC State transfer wide receiver KC Concepcion is down to six schools, @On3sports has learned.
He's down to Alabama, Colorado, Florida State, Miami, South Carolina and Texas A&M. Ranked as the No. 2 player in the portal, per On3.

Penn State has been in need of big-time receivers for what feels long time, and Cocepcion would have helped.
ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED
In that ACC Freshman of the Year season, Concepcion put up 839 yards and 10 touchdowns on 71 receptions.
No Penn State receiver has put up those type of numbers since Jahan Dotson (1,182 yards, 12 TD on 91 catches) did so in 2021. Since then, Penn State has struggled to make noise at the position.
People who look at Concepcionโs numbers from 2023 and โ24 will notice something: 2023 was a lot better. This past season, Concepcion had 18 fewer receptions, 379 fewer yards and four fewer touchdowns. The reasoning for this regression might not be 100% clear but regardless, Concepcion is a talent. Penn State could certainly use help at receiver, and the transfer portal would be a good place to find it.
WHO ELSE IS OUT THERE?
The good news for Penn State is that there are plenty of receivers to pull from. Former Alabama WR Kobe Prentice, who was once a top 100 prospect, is among them. As are LSUโs CJ Daniels and Florida Internationalโs Eric Rivers, who is visiting Penn State the weekend of Dec. 19-20. Rivers had 1,172 yards and 12 touchdowns on 62 receptions this season.
Penn Stateโs first College Football Playoff game ever is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19 at noon against SMU in Beaver Stadium. The game will be on TNT.
