Kyle Dake, who didn’t go to Penn State but is a member of Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, showed why he’s the odds-on favorite to win Olympic Gold at 74 KG.
Dake, who won a Bronze Medal at the 2020 games in Tokyo and is a four-time World Champion and five-time world medalist, dominated Venenzula’s Montero Chirinos in less than a minute and a half.
He’s now three wins away from winning a Gold Medal.
If he accomplishes this feat, the Cornell legend be the second wrestler to win four NCAA Championships and Olympic Gold. The other one is none other than Penn State coach Cael Sanderson.
Dake will now wrestle in the quarterfinals. If he wins there, he’ll go to the semis, which will start around 12:15.
If you set your alarm for 5:30am to watch Kyle Dake, and decided to sleep in an extra two minutes, you literally missed his match.
That was pure domination. Dude’s on a mission.
