PSU Wrestling: True Freshman Braeden Davis Beats Top 15 Opponent at 125

Penn State wrestling doesnโ€™t have a lot of problems.

The 125-pound weight class has been one of them.

This past March, 125 was the only class where Penn State didnโ€™t send a wrestler to the NCAA Championships.

It looks like true freshman Braeden Davis could have something to say about that this season. Davis came into Fridayโ€™s dual meet against Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon, with an 8-0 overall record with a win in his dual meet debut against Hofstra Dec. 11.

He had the biggest test of his young college career Friday night against Oregon Stateโ€™s Brandon Kaylor, who came in ranked No. 15 in the country. Davis passed that test with flying colors, winning an 11-6 decision.

Penn State might not have needed such a boost at 125 to three-peat as national champions. But it certainly doesnโ€™t hurt to have one.
