With Penn State currently in a travel mode of recruiting, ace recruiter Terry Smith found his way to Georgia to visit one of the nationโs top cornerbacks.
Four-star Class of 2026 prospect Dorian Barney of Carrollton (Carrollton, GA), who is rated as the nationโs No. 15 cornerback prospect by the 247Sports Composite and a Top 20 prospect in the state of Georgia (ranked No. 17), was the destination for Smith.ย
Smithโs actions reflect Barneyโs comments following his unofficial visit to State College on April 12, with Barney saying at the time he was a โbig priority to them.โย
Barney is listed at 6โ1โ 180 pound cornerback and had eight interceptions and six pass breakups as a freshman at Eagleโs Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, GA.
When you look at Barneyโs highlights, his ability to patrol the secondary as a smooth mover and flip his hips in coverage confuses quarterbacks and intended receivers alike. Barney has an ability to play in a variety of coverage schemes and ability to close the passing window presents turnover opportunities. Barneyโs soft hands and long reach gives him the ability to secure a turnover or defend a pass in the vicinity.
Barney took to X following Smithโs visit saying, โGreat home visit with coach appreciate you my guy.โ
Penn State is in the running for Barney’s commitment along with Texas A&M, Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, and Georgia Tech. Barney returns to State College for an official visit May 16.
