Itโs no secret Penn State wanted to address its wide receiver room as the main area of concern following the 2024 season.
A PSU wide receiver did not record a catch against Notre Dame. Receivers were only targeted five times, either to Harrison Wallace (three) or Omari Evans (two).
Both receivers transferred. The Nittany Lions replaced the duo with transfers Kyron Hudson (USC), Devonte Ross (Troy), and Trebor Pena (Syracuse), along with a group of promising freshmen.ย
Included as part of that group of signees is Koby Howard, a former three-sport athlete in high school who chose Penn State over multiple SEC schools.
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 197 pounds
Hometown: Pensacola, Florida
Howard was ranked a four-star recruit by Rivals and a three-star by 247Sports, On3, and ESPN. From Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Howard chose Penn State over Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and others.ย
Rivals dubbed him the No. 170 recruit in the class of 2025. Howard caught 18 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns before being injured and missing the remainder of the season. He starred his junior year, catching 65 passes for 1,065 yards and 12 scores.ย
Howard was injured during his sophomore year as well, but broke on the scene by catching 70 passes for 808 yards. He ran an 11.38 in the 100-meter during his junior season and has quickness off the line.
In a deep wide receiver room, Howard may redshirt and factor into Andy Kotelnickiโs offense down the road. Time will tell how Howard factors into Penn Stateโs plays into the football program.
