One of Penn State football’s most prominent Class of 2024 targets has set his commitment date.
Jaylen Harvey, a four-star EDGE from Maryland’s Quince Orchard High School, will announce his commitment Oct. 16, he announced via X Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder has Penn State as a finalist along with Maryland and USC.
In December, Harvey announced that Penn State was in his top 11, along with Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Pitt, South Carolina, USC and Tennessee.
Penn State offered him in April 2022. Along with his top three, Harvey has offers from schools such as Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia. Harvey originally set his commitment for the Fourth of July, but pushed it back.
Penn State’s the favorite to land Harvey. All four of 247Sports’ Crystal Ball projections have him picking PSU.
He most recently visited PSU for the team’s last home game: the 31-0 White Out win over Iowa Sept. 23.
If Harvey ends up coming to Penn State, he wouldn’t be the first blue-chip defensive end from Quince Orchard to do so. Chop Robinson, a former five-star, transferred to Penn State from Maryland after his freshman season in 2021 and became one of Penn State’s best players last season. If all goes well for Chop in 2023, he could well be a first round draft pick in 2024. Harvey’s helped Quince Orchard to two state championships.
Getting a commitment from Harvey would be another feather in the cap for first-year defensive line coach Deion Barnes.
