Black shoes.
Basic blues.
No names.
All game.
Those eight words appear at the end of the video that plays on Beaver Stadium’s jumbotron right before coach James Franklin leads Penn State out onto the field.
All eight words are related to Penn State’s iconic uniforms, which are a big part of the reputation the school has built over the past half-century plus.
Regardless of how people see them— some find them perfect, other’s dull— Penn State’s uniforms are one of college football’s most famous.
247Sports agrees, naming Penn State’s wardrobe third on its list of most iconic uniforms.

Despite such a high national ranking, Penn State ranks just third in its own conference, and, for that matter, its own division.
Michigan and Ohio State are No.’s 1 and 2, respectively.
The only other school to appear on the 20-team list was Nebraska, which clocked in at No. 17.
Of the non-Big Ten schools on the list, six are from the SEC to lead all conferences. Additionally, four are from the ACC, three are from the PAC 12, two are from the Big 12 and Independent Notre Dame is No. 5.
Penn State’s uniforms have undergone little change over the past 50+ years, and things aren’t expected to change anytime soon.
