IOWA CITY, Iowa — On the first possession of its top-five showdown against No. 3 Iowa at Kinnick Stadium, Penn State lost a key member of its defense.

Starting defensive tackle PJ Mustipher went down on the fifth play from scrimmage, and was helped off the field by two trainers. Mustipher went into the medical tent on the visitors’ sideline for the remainder of the drive, and stayed in the tent during Iowa’s second and third possessions of the game.

Mustipher entered the game with 21 tackles on the season, including six in last week’s victory over Indiana. Redshirt freshman Coziah Izzard took Mustipher’s spot alongside Dvon Ellies in the middle of the Nittany Lions’ defensive line.

Mustipher spent the remainder of the first half in the locker room and returned to the sideline on crutches in the third quarter.
