Not that it’s suprising to anybody, but former Iowa State QB Rocco Becht, who recently announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, will be visiting Penn State.
This news comes via ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who reported that Becht is “preparing to visit Penn State in the upcoming days.”
“Now that he’ll officially be in the portal, a deal at Penn State reuniting him with his former coaching staff could come together quickly,” Thamel reported.
The “former coach” Thamel refers to is, of course, Matt Campbell.
Before coming to Penn State last month, Campbell was Iowa State’s boss for 10 seasons and thus recruited Becht to Ames and coached him for all four of his seasons there.
For three of those seasons, Becht was Iowa State’s starter.

With star receivers Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins off to the NFL— along with a torn labrum suffered in the middle of the year— Becht regressed this past season.
He ended the year with fewer yards (2,584), touchdowns (16) and the same amount of interceptions. Again, it’s hard to know what Becht would have done had he been healthy.
It’s also hard to know how much the labrum surgery which Becht underwent in December will affect him.
But in any case, with Becht’s ties to Campbell and with Penn State QB Ethan Grunkemeyer planning to enter the transfer portal it seems inevitable that Becht will be coming to State College, with On3 and 247Sports already placing predictions for him to land there.
