UNIVERSITY PARK– Penn State hockey might be playing in Beaver Stadium without Gavin McKenna.
But having a projected No. 1 NHL Draft choice in Happy Valley certainly helped the cause.
The day wouldn’t have felt right without a goal from McKenna, and that goal happened 8:23 into the second period.
The goal wasn’t the only contribution McKenna made to this historic day.
He’s assisted on Penn State’s other two goals, each scored by Aiden Fink.
Simply put, McKenna is the most hyped player in Penn State hockey history. It’s been a good eight days for him, highlighted by a hat-trick in last Friday night’s win at Wisconsin.
For Penn State to win its first national title, McKenna has to be a central figure.
