In transfer portal news, a former Penn state defender is joining Bill Belichick and the University of North Carolina.
Two days after Joseph Mupoyi announced that heโll be entering the portal following two seasons in Happy Valley, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported that Mupoyiโs next home will be in Chapel Hill.
Mupoyiโs transfer shouldnโt come as a big surprise.
Even with the loss of Abdul Carterโ who is virtually a lock to go in the top five of this yearโs Draftโ Penn State still has a lot of talent at defensive end. Expected to lead the way in his fourth season is Dani Dennis-Sutton, who could follow in Carterโs footsteps as the first defensive end selected in next seasonโs draft. Veterans Zuriah Fisher and Enai White are also expected to contribute, and plenty of Penn State fans are excited about when young Max Granville can do in his second season. So, it would have been hard for Mupoyi to break through.
At UNC, Mupoyi will be joining former teammate Smith Vilbert. Vilbert, a fellow defensive end, was with PSU for six seasons before entering the portal this spring.
