Two of the best Penn State players of the James Franklin era— Saquon Barkley and Jahan Dotson— are now teammates.
In a bombshell trade between divisional foes, the Washington Commanders sent former Penn State WR and 2022 first-round pick Jahan Dotson to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Washington is also sending a fifth-round pick and in return is getting a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Through two seasons in Washington, Dotson picked up 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns on 84 receptions. He ended last season with 523 yards and seven touchdowns on 35 catches in 12 games played, missing time due to injury.
Dotson had an impressive career at Penn State and finished it second in school history in career receptions and fourth in receiving yards. He also has the single-game school record for receiving yards, which he set Nov. 6 at Maryland with 242 yards and three touchdowns.
Ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, Pro Football Focus’ Cris Collinsworth predicted that Dotson would “catch 100 balls in the league at some point.”
Dotson has been widely praised for his hands, but is also known for what he can do after the catch.
“When I get the ball in my hands, it’s exciting,” Dotson said at his NFL Combine press conference in March 2022. “I’m an explosive player, very fast, I can take the top off the defense. I’m just ready to make the most of this opportunity whenever I land.”
Now, Dotson has landed in Philadelphia, where the Nazareth, Pennsylvania, native will be back in the state where he played most of his high school and college games. Like Barkley, who spent his first six NFL seasons with the New York Football Giants, Dotson will be coming to Philly from an NFC East foe.
