Penn State and West Virginia will duke it out on the field on the last day of August.
But on the last day of July, the schools will have a recruiting battle.
The top player in West Virginia from the Class of 2026 is choosing between PSU and WVU.
Daniel Jennings is a four-star, 6-foot-2, 220-pound EDGE from Princeton, West Virginia.
Penn State offered him in late March when he was on campus during the spring season. Since then, heโs returned to PSU for the Blue-White Game in April, a camp in early June and, most recently, this past weekend for the schoolโs annual Lasch Basch, which is the biggest recruiting weekend of the summer. Both of 247Sports โcrystal ballโ projections have Jennings committing to Penn State.
In an interview with 247s Brian Dohn, Jennings explained what appealed to him about Penn State, as well as what Penn State likes about him.
“I like the facilities, the coaches and how they treat me when I come there. โI am really an athlete and I feel like I can cover and rush the quarterback.”
West Virginia was the first school to offer Jennings, and that fact isnโt lost on him.
“I like them being my first offer, the campus and how they treat me when I go there,” he said. “(Victor Cabral) is a very good coach. Me and him have a good relationship. Every time I come to campus, he treats me well, talks to me and meets the (family), and everything goes well.”
Jennings is scheduled to make his decision at 7 p.m.
