Monday was a huge day for Penn State as they received a commitment from one of the top overall players in the country.
Following his official visit, 4-star cornerback Daryus Dixson made the decision to shut down his recruitment and become a member of Penn State’s Class of 2025.
This was huge for Penn State on a couple of fronts. One, they were able to pull a legit national recruit from the state of California. The Nittany Lions beat out the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and USC for his services. Doing something like that equates to a huge recruiting victory. Two, if you buy into the individual player rankings, James Franklin landed his highest ranked players in a number of years. Per Rivals.com, Dixson is the No. 53 overall player in the Class of 2025. Two years ago, Penn State signed three Rivals.com Top 100 players (No. 74 DaKaari Nelson, No. 90 Jven Williams and No. 96 Tony Rojas).
Getting a player of this caliber should positively impact your team recruiting rankings — and that’s exactly what happened.
With the commitment of Dixson, Penn State jumped up three spots in the Rivals 2025 Team Recruiting Ranking.
Here’s what the latest rankings look like heading as of June 11th, 2024.
