The transfer portal receiver search continues for Penn State football.
Penn State is projected to receive a commit from Julian Fleming, an in-state product from Southern Columbia High School and former five-star who is in the transfer portal after four seasons at Ohio State.
But nothing is official with Fleming yet, and in the meantime, another Penn State target has committed elsewhere.
Andre Greene Jr., a North Carolina transfer who went on an official visit to Penn State the second weekend of December, has stayed and the ACC and committed to Virginia, he announced via X Wednesday afternoon. Greene has three seasons of eligibility left.
Greene entered the transfer portal after two seasons with UNC. So far, he hasn’t received much playing time during his college career. Over two seasons, Greene caught a total of five passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Three of those catches and the lone touchdown came in last year’s Holliday Bowl against Oregon. The 6-foot-2, 201-pounder came to Carolina as a four-star recruit from Richmond, Virginia’s St. Christopher’s School. 247Sports ranked Greene just outside of the top 100 overall players in America from his class.
Greene enjoyed his official visit to Penn State.
“I had a blast on my official visit with Penn State,” Greene posted to social media late that Sunday afternoon. “Happy Valley is truly an amazing place for many reasons!”
KeAndre Lambert-Smith was the only Penn State receiver who went for more than 246 yards. Three of Penn State’s top five receiving leaders were either tight ends or running backs. This position will surely need to be addressed over the winter.
