Some years, the best Halloween Weekend costume at Penn State football’s Beaver Stadium isn’t obvious.
That wasn’t the case in 2023.
Will Meyer— not to be confused with MLB veteran Wil Myers— is a freshman computer science major at Penn State.
In Saturday’s game against, Meyer wore Michigan gear. But he had a good reason: He was dressed as suspended Michigan staffer Connor Stalions.
Yep, binoculars and everything.
Yeah I’m gonna bet this will be the most creative costume we see at Penn State today. Any guesses as to what it is? pic.twitter.com/OGxtqQI14Q

Because Meyer, who grew up near Albany, New York, goes to Penn State, it’d be easy to assume that he doesn’t like Michigan. The opposite is true. Meyer’s father, Stephen, is a Michigan man, and the two have fond memories of watching Michigan. In particular, Meyer loved watching the team beat Ohio State and former star Jabril Peppers play.
When it came time to pick a college, Meyer’s parents encouraged him to go to a Big Ten school.
Because Penn State is somewhat close to home and has a large network of alumni, it was Meyer’s choice.
That spices up the family’s college football fandom a bit.
”It’s fun being rivals with him now,” Meyer told NSN.
Meyer’s father helped Will’s effort, mailing him a Michigan shirt.
Meyer said he got a “mixed” reaction from the folks in and around Beaver Stadium.
“Not everyone understood the costume,” he said, “so I had to explain it to a lot of people. Onward State and a few other reporters posted about it on twitter which was cool.”

NSN caught up with Meyer in the Penn State student section more than an hour before the game— it wasn’t difficult, as the stadium was largely empty at the time— and he told NSN he hoped to get on TV.
He did.
“It was easy to spot the Maize jersey,” Meyer told NSN via Instagram direct message two days later.
The Beaver Stadium Jumbotron noticed, as well.
As for Meyer’s thoughts on the Michigan investigation, he doesn’t see the NCAA coming down with serious penalties, or coach Jim Harbaugh being fired.
Meyer will be in Beaver Stadium when Penn State takes on Michigan Nov. 11.
He will not be wearing Michigan gear.
