Penn State Offers DII OL Transfer

Head coach James Franklin.

Penn State has extended an offer to a DII player currently in the transfer portal.

Alan HerronĀ is a 6-foot-6, 310 sophomore who will be transferring from Shorter University.

He announced his entry into the transfer portal in the middle of this month, and has since heard from schools such as Auburn, Boston College, Clemson, Houston, Kansas, Maryland and NC State.

Penn State has now joined the party, and Herron announced the offer Wednesday afternoon.

Heā€™s originally from Jamaica and played high school football at Atlantaā€™s Benjamin Banker High School.

Heā€™s a three-star transfer according to 247Sports. At shorter, Herron mainly played right tackle. Penn Stateā€™s regular right tackle for the past four seasons has been Caedan Wallace, and Wallace has the option to return next season for what would be Year 6. Penn State also has Drew Shelton set to be back in the fold, who will be going into his third year and started the last five games at left tackle as a true freshman in 2022 after Olu Fashanu went down with an injury. Fashanu, who was named a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection and the conferenceā€™s Offensive Lineman of the Year Wednesday afternoon, shocked the world by coming back to Penn State this season when he was a projected first-round pick in this past draft.

Fashanu has eligibility left, but him coming back again would be beyond shocking. Heā€™s now projected by many to be a top three draft choice.

Penn State also offered former Michigan State tackle Keyshawn Blackstock, but he committed to Arkansas.

Wherever Herron ends up, heā€™ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
