Update (10:00 a.m.) —

Iowa is under investigation by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission after four baseball players, including star hitter Keaton Anthony, were suspended by the university. The commission released this information to Action Network.

The university never admitted that the suspensions were due to gambling but that they withheld some student athletes due to a potential violation.

They did say that they received information on 111 individuals in total, including 26 current student-athletes from baseball, football, men’s basketball, men’s track and field and wrestling, along with one full-time employee in the athletics department.

They also did specify that, “the vast majority of the individuals are student-staff, former student-athletes or those with no connection to UI Athletics.” They also said that no current or former coaches are under investigation.

Alabama recently fired their head coach Brad Bohannon for gambling violations after an Ohio better received a tip from Bohannon on that he was going to rest his starting pitcher, as reported by Action Network.

Iowa State also released yesterday that they were suspending 15 players across multiple sports who had “online gambling accusations.”
