He was only at Penn State for a few months and never played meaningful football there; former cornerback Storm Duck announced his commitment to play at Louisville via his Instagram.
He joins his former North Carolina defensive backfield teammate safety Cam’Ron Kelly who committed to the program yesterday.
Interestingly enough, this is also Kelly’s second transfer of the cycle.
Kelly originally transferred to Virginia from North Carolina and participated in their spring game. Four players transferred to Louisville following their spring game last Friday after six entered the portal during that same time frame.
Duck had a career year in 2022, being named to the All-ACC second team last year. In 12 regular season game starts, he logged 46 total tackles (36 solo), along with one for loss and a forced fumble, and led North Carolina with three interceptions and nine pass breakups. His 12 pass defenses were tied for eighth-most in the ACC.
He left Penn State after the team’s spring game. He likely lost the defensive backfield battle with Johnny Dixon to appear opposite Kalen King in the cornerback spots. Although that could’ve motivated his transfer, he hasn’t publicly said why he left Penn State and was still expected to be a significant contributor this upcoming season.
Duck is a graduate transfer, so he does not have to get a waiver to play this upcoming season despite his transfer to Louisville being his second one.
