After a lot of talk this week, Sean Clifford is starting at quarterback for Penn State.
It will be Clifford’s ninth start in nine games this season, and it doesn’t come as much of a surprise. With that said, there was more interest in the question of “who is going to start at QB” than in most weeks.
Many Penn State fans want freshman sensation Drew Allar to start, and coach James Franklin didn’t sound too sure in his weekly press conference Tuesday.
“I had a pretty good conversion with (offensive coordinator and QB coach) Mike Yurcich, obviously,” Franklin said. “Talked to (defensive coordinator) Manny Diaz about it, talked to Coach Whiz about it, talked to (analyst) Danny O’Brien. So I talked to the guys that had either been a college or NFL head coach before—also talked to a guy who played the position (O’Brien) as well and got everybody’s thoughts. And we’ll continue to evaluate it like we always do.”
For Indiana, Jack Tuttle is starting at QB instead of regular start Connor Bazalek.
Penn State and Indiana are scoreless in the first quarter.
