Carmello D. Taylor, a Class of 2023 three-star athlete out of Roanoke, Virginia, has narrowed his school of choice down to five, and Penn State made the list.

Penn State is in the hunt along with Maryland, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Taylor was one of the standout performers at Penn State’s 7-on-7 camp on his official visit on June 24.

The 6-foot-0, 170-pound wide receiver out of Patrick Henry High School is the number six recruit in Virginia, and the No. 48 wide receiver in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports.

Taylor helped the tram to an 8-4 record as a junior, and an appearance in the second round of the Virginia Class 5playoffs in 2021. He also runs track, posting times of 10.59 in the 100 meters and 21.45 in the 200 meters winning the Virginia Region D championship. Andrew Irvins of 247 Sports quoted that Taylor is one of the fastest athletes in the Class of 2023.

If Taylor was to commit to Penn State, he would join Alex Birchmeier, Mathias Barnwell and Anthony Donkoh as Class of 2023 commits from Virginia and Ejani Shakir and Yazeed Haynes as wide receiver commits.

Taylor is expected to announce his decision on July 25.
