Coming off an encouraging showing in Florida, Penn State struggled to get anything going against Miami Wednesday night and lost 63-58 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Lions trailed 29-23 at the half, and although they led at multiple points in the second half, they could never pull away from Miami. A three-pointer by Miami’s Kameron McGusty with 38 seconds left put the Hurricanes up 63-58 and proved to be the dagger.
John Harrar led Penn State with 16 points and 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double in seven games. Seth Lundy added 14 points. For Miami, 6-10 Sam Waardenburg led the way with 14 points, and McGusty, Charlie Moore and Isaiah Wong added 12.
Penn State’s road doesn’t get easier. The Nittany Lions open Big Ten play Sunday against Ohio State, who upset No. 1 Duke Tuesday night. Tipoff is at 7:30 at the Bryce Jordan Center. The game will be broadcast on the Big 10 network.
