Penn State has landed another player from the transfer portal, as former 4-star safety recruit A.J. Lytton (5-11, 175) is transferring in, according to a report Tuesday night by 247Sports. Lytton played two seasons at Florida State (2018, ’19).

Lytton was rated the No. 50 player in the nation for the class of 2018 coming out of high school and signed with Florida State. He appeared in 10 games for the Seminoles in 2018 and 12 games (one start) in 2019.

These are his stats, from his Florida State bio page:

2018:

Appeared in 10 games…totaled 14 tackles, including 1.0 for loss, one interception and two pass breakups…recorded two tackles and his first career interception vs. No. 2 Clemson…made collegiate debut and registered one pass breakup in 36-26 win vs. Samford…recorded season-high four tackles, including 1.0 for loss, at Syracuse…had one solo tackle in 37-19 win vs. Northern Illinois…made one stop in 28-24 victory at Louisville…tied season-high tackles total with four at No. 17 Miami…recorded two solo tackles and one pass breakup in 38-17 win vs. Wake Forest…also saw action at North Carolina State, at No. 3 Notre Dame and in 22-21 victory vs. No. 22 Boston College.

Lytton was removed from the Florida State roster in February of 2020 and did not play last season. It’s unclear exactly why Lytton was removed from the team.

He left the Seminoles in February 2020 and returned home to take classes as a local community college. With his work set to be done in the next few days, Lytton is ready to head to Penn State this weekend. Classes start Monday, and he plans to be in one.

Lytton is the sixth player Penn State has added from the transfer portal. You can see all of the additions in our updated Roster Rumblings feature.
