UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – To say Penn State has activated sophomore wide receiver Koby Howard during the 2026 non-conference slate might be an understatement.
Howard has 135 all purpose yards (115 receiving 20 rushing) and two touchdowns (1 rush 1 receive) on four touches (3 receptions 1 carry) during a dominant first half that saw the Nittany Lions get up 34-3 against Buffalo Bulls of the Mid-American Conference.
In the second quarter with the Nittany Lions up 20-0, Howard scored his first touchdown on an end around carry to the left boundary that was void of Bulls defenders that was a 20-yard rushing touchdown his first rushing touchdown of his Penn State career.
Later in the second quarter, quarterback Rocco Becht saw a streaking Howard down the sideline and connected on a 70-yard touchdown that put Penn State up 34-0 which is the longest reception by a Penn State wide receiver this season.
Last week against Temple, Howard had a 56-yard reception in the opening quarter that was the season’s longest.
The reception put Howard over 100 receiving yards for the second time in three games in 2026; the last time this occurred was by Parker Washington and Jahan Dotson in 2021.
Howard’s 161-yard performance against Marshall in Week 1 were the most by a Penn State wide receiver since Washington’s 179 against Ohio State in 2022.
