Another candidate in Penn State Football’s search for a new head coach appears on the brink of becoming unavailable, as Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz came one step closer to signing an extension with Mizzou.
Per a report from Eli Hoff of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Mizzou’s administration “greenlit a proposed contract extension for football coach Eli Drinkwitz on Wednesday.” With the go-ahead obtained from the Tigers’ higher ups, all that remains is for Drinkwitz to sign the extension.
The Tigers climbed as high as No. 14 this season under the guidance of Drinkwitz — and former Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula — but Pribula dislocated his ankle in late October and Mizzou began to go off the rails.
Other candidates for the Nittany Lions’ coaching job include interim head coach and offensive coordinator Terry Smith, former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, and even Penn State legend and current Washington Commanders receivers coach Bobby Engram.
