Florida defensive tackle Jarquez Carter has gone through the process of making his official visits and his ready to make his much-anticipated college decision.
The 4-star recruit from Newberry, Florida has announced that he plans on announcing his college decision on July 18th.
Newberry (6’2″, 265-pounds) held close to 30 D-1 offers and after going through the recruiting process, he has narrowed that list and will decide between: Penn State, Ohio, State, Miami Fla., Florida and Central Florida.
The order of Carter’s official visits were Florida (May 31st), Penn State (June 7th), Central Florida (June 14th), Ohio State (June 18th) and Miami, Fla. (June 21st).
Following his visit to State College, Nittany Sports Now spoke with Carter about the highlights of his visit.
“This visit definitely made a big impression on me, especially since I was able to really sit down and talk to coach (Tom) Allen and coach (Deion) Barnes,” said Carter. “We were also able to watch film, and they were able to find players on their defense that I play like and show how I would fit in and be a key piece in their defense.”
“Something that stands out to me about Penn State is the way that they practice. I’ve never seen anyone practice as hard as they do,” said Carter. “They practice so physical. They started with O-line vs. D-line one-on-one. They get after it like no other team does.
” Academically, I really like their business department and that’s something I want to pursue. Them having a good football program and good business department is definitely a plus.”
Carter told NSN that some of his strengths include being able to run stuffing and getting after opposing quarterbacks.
“With the way I’m able to get off the ball, it allows me to penetrate the backfield quickly and get to the quarterback,” Carter said. “At the same time, I’m also able to get to the running back to stuff him.”

Penn State’s Class of 2025 currently has 18 commitments but is still looking for their first defensive tackle.
Carter would obviously be a welcomed addition and move Penn State closer to having one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
