For what felt like the longest time, Penn State wrestling didnโt have a formidable 125-pounder.
It has one now, and Braeden Davis is his name.
Davis had an excellent true freshman season for Penn State, wrestling himself to the six seed at the Big Ten Championships.
He surprised everybody at the tournament by winning the whole thing, beating a trio of nationally ranked performers in Wisconsinโs Eric Barnett (No. 5,) Michiganโs Michael DeAugustino (No. 16) and, finally, Minnesotaโs Patrick McKee (No. 4) in the finals. The last win came in an 8-1 decision, with Davis slamming McKee to the ground at the end of the bout to put an exclamation mark on it.
