NSN Staff Predictions: Will Penn State Keep the Land Grant Trophy From Michigan State?

DETROIT— The Land Grant Trophy is on the line as Penn State takes on Michigan State.

The teams have split the last two games, with Michigan State winning in East Lansing in 2021 and Penn State getting revenge last year.

Both programs are a lot different than they were two years ago.

In 2021, Penn State finished 7-6 and Michigan State went 11-2. Now, Penn State’s on the verge of its second straight double-digit win season and Michigan State is playing out the string of its second consecutive losing campaign.

PSU is a three-touchdown favorite. Here’s what our staff at NSN thinks will happen.

Andy Stine:
Sparty has been waiting for this day, the last game, since the Mel Tucker scandal broke. PSU will probably win easily because Michigan State just wants this Season to be over. On a side note, in my opinion, Black Friday is the only time a college game should be played on a Friday and I love the decision to put this game a day earlier.

There are few things better than the prestigious Land-Grant Trophy. It should return to University Park on the plane ride home Friday. Ford Field will be plastered with blue and white for the game and the Nittany Lions should roll into December with ease.

Me: James Franklin is really good at winning games he’s supposed to win. PSU is 9-0 as a favorite this season and has only failed to cover the spread once in those wins. Michigan State is bad, and it won’t have the home field advantage that East Lansing would have brought. Expect Penn State to win and win big.
