Penn State Gets Commitment from Mississippi State Transfer DB Audavion Collins

Penn State has received a transfer commitment from former Mississippi State defensive back Audavion Collins, Collins announced on his Instagram page Tuesday afternoon.

Collins (6-feet, 165 pounds) is set to come to Penn State after one season in Starkville, where he didn’t play in any games.

Before that, the Covington, Georgia, native he was a consensus three-star recruit out of Newton High School, and committed to Mississippi State in August 2021.

He enter the transfer portal last month and received an offer from Penn State at the beginning of this one.

Collins also has offers from Akron and Western Kentucky.

Penn State hosted Collins for an official visit beginning this past Monday, and evidently, he was impressed.

Collins is the fifth player that Penn State’s added from the portal this offseason. He joins Dante Cephas (WR, Kent State) Malik McClain (WR, Florida State), Trey Potts (RB, Minnesota), Addison Penn (OL, Duke) and Alonzo Ford (DT, Old Dominion).

Penn State hopes to get more out of Collins than it did it’s last DB transfer. Storm Duck, an all-ACC performer at North Carolina, was set to give Penn State a veteran presence, a depth piece and one of the greatest names in Penn State history. But Duck transferred last month after the school’s Blue-White game and committed to Louisville.

Collins will have his work cut out for him due to a deep defensive backs room that is thought to be a big factor in Duck’s short Penn State stay. Projected CB1 Kalen King is thought to be a potential first-round draft pick, and others, such as Johnny Dixon, Cam Miller and Daequan Hardy, are talented as well.

Collins will come to Penn State with four years of eligibility left.
