EVANSTON, Ill. – Through much of the week, the biggest question on the availability reports would be if cornerback Daryus Dixson would play in the Big Ten road opener of the 2026 season against Northwestern.
Listed in the final availability report as a game time decision, Dixson was a go on the Nittany Lions first series against Northwestern.
Earlier this week, Penn State head coach Matt Campbell mentioned that Dixson was “dinged up” late in the first half against Wisconsin after his interception of Wisconsin quarterback Colton Joseph.
Dixson expressed concern early in the week to the Penn State staff as Campbell said Dixson described himself as “really sore” and needed extra time to recover.
Penn State fell to Wisconsin last week 24-20 in their 2026 Big Ten opener.
Dixson has been a multidimensional star for the Nittany Lions this season as he has excelled on special teams.
Against Temple, Dixson had a blocked field goal in the third quarter.
Entering tonight, Penn State has the highest coverage grade as an unit nationally with a 94.0 grade, where Dixson has excelled himself 77.4 grade.
