Chandler’s latest quarterback prodigy five-star Will Mencl, is set to announce his college commitment Wednesday evening.
The five-star standout from Chandler, Arizona will hold a ceremony at his school, with the Rivals YouTube Channel streaming the announcement beginning at 7:30 PM (Eastern).
Mencl’s three finalists are Auburn, Oregon and Penn State.
At the moment, Dan Lanning and Oregon appear to hold the edge for the latest quarterback star to emerge from Chandler, one of the nation’s premier high school programs.
Mencl visited all three finalists during the spring, while also making earlier trips to Auburn and Oregon in January. He also returned to Eugene for a game-day visit during the fall, further fueling buzz around the Ducks.
He visited Matt Campbell in State College for an unofficial visit on April 2.
Mencl enters his senior season off a dominant junior campaign in which he completed better than 70% of his passes for 3,815 yards, 33 touchdowns and only five interceptions. He also showcased his dual-threat ability by rushing for 741 yards and 17 scores.
Listed around 6’3” and 205 pounds with 10-inch hands, Mencl is regarded as one of the most polished quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle. He is praised for his smooth mechanics, accuracy, ability to read defenses and willingness to attack the middle of the field. Mencl also impressed on the national all-star circuit, turning in the top quarterback performance at the Navy All-American Bowl.
With a high floor and well-rounded skill set, Mencl’s Wednesday decision will be one of the most significant recruiting moments in the 2027 class.
