Penn State forwards Matt DiMarsico and JJ Wiebusch have been named to the U.S. Collegiate Selects Team for the 2025 Spengler Cup, College Hockey Inc. announced Thursday.
They join linemate in forward Charlie Cerrato, who was added earlier this month, along with fellow Nittany Lions forward Aiden Fink and defenseman Mac Gadowsky, both returning All-Americans selected as part of the “First Five.”
All returning First- and Second-Team AHCA/CCM All-Americans received automatic invitations. The remaining roster, which will feature players from all six NCAA conferences, is being finalized by the U.S. coaching staff and organizing committee with input from NHL scouts.
Alongside DiMarsico and Wiebusch, Vinny Borgesi (Northeastern), Adam Gajan (Minnesota-Duluth), Ryan Walsh(Cornell), and Quinn Finley (Wisconsin) were also added, bringing the roster to 16 players. Additional selections will be announced in the coming weeks.
Penn State head coach Guy Gadowsky will lead the U.S. team when it debuts in the historic tournament, marking the first time in the Spengler Cup’s 102-year history that a roster of NCAA players will compete.
DiMarsico has tallied eight goals and seven assists (15 points) through 10 games, ranking among Big Ten and national leaders. Wiebusch leads the nation with 11 goals and 18 points, tied for second nationally and first in the Big Ten.
The U.S. Collegiate Selects open tournament play Dec. 26 against Team Canada. The six-team event runs Dec. 26–31 in Davos, with broadcasts reaching more than 20 countries. U.S. broadcast details will be announced later.
