Lane Kiffin Trolls Penn State Football

How is Ole Miss ranked ahead of Penn State?

Penn State football probably could have down without being trolled by Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.

Not that it’s the worst thing to happen to it this weekend, but salt in the wound still stings no matter how it gets in.

Interestingly enough, Kiffin’s troll had nothing to do directly with Penn State’s historically embarrassing loss at 0-4 UCLA.

No, this one had to do with recruiting. Keegan Croucher, a four-star QB from the Class of 2027, committed to Ole Miss over Penn State and Oregon, among others.

To celebrate, Kiffin quote tweeted an article written by AthlonSports titled “Penn State dealt unfortunate recruiting news on Sunday.”

YES, THIS WAS A TROLL

Make no mistake, Lane Kiffin was trolling Penn State here. Some might try to argue that Kiffin was simply celebrating a big commitment for his program. But he could have done that by sharing a number of articles that didn’t mention Penn State in the headline.

Kiffin is known to share such articles on social media, so this is no surprise. He also has a bit of a history with Penn State because of the 2023 Peach Bowl, which Ole Miss ended up winning 38-25. In the lead up to that game, a burner account tied to one of Kiffin’s staffers made up quotes from Penn State’s players that were derogatory toward Ole Miss.

PENN STATE DESERVES TO BE TROLLED

Was it necessary for Kiffin to take a shot at Penn State? No. But does Penn State deserve to be trolled after what happened at the Rose Bowl Saturday? Quite frankly, yes.

Penn State started the season ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll. It took a little more than a month for PSU to fall out of the AP Poll entirely. When that happens, people will make fun, and sometimes, those people are fellow head coaches.

Kiffin in particular has room to talk. His Rebels are off to a 5-0 start and ranked No. 4 in the country. Ole Miss has a great chance of making it to the College Football Playoff, whereas Penn State’s are almost non-existent.

Penn State takes on Northwestern Saturday at 3:30 on Homecoming at Beaver Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 on FS1.
