A former Penn State assistant coach is set to be fired by Virginia Tech.
Per Pete Thamel of ESPN, the program is set to let go of Brent Prey after a little more than three seasons on the job.
This is unfortunate yet unsurprising news.
Simply put, Pry just didn’t get the job down at VT. If it is indeed true that Pry will be fired, his time at VT will end with a 16-24 record.
This season, Virginia Tech is 0-3, and a 45-26 loss to Old Dominion— coached by another former Penn State assistant in Ricky Rahne— proved to be the last straw.
Before Virginia Tech, Pry was Penn State’s defensive coordinator for six seasons. In that time, he helped James Franklin— who is one of his best friends— build the program into a Big Ten Champion.
