A member of the Penn State athletics staff has been charged with a DUI, per a criminal complaint.
The complaint says that 46-year-old Brian Andrew Short was stopped by police back in June, and that traffic stop resulted in Short being found with a BAC of +.16 and another DUI for general impaired driving.
A State College police officer saw Short driving at night with no headlights along E. College Avenue, per an Affidavit.
The officer then allegedly smelled alcohol on Short and noticed that Short’s eyes were bloodshot and he had slurred speech. Short then allegedly admitted to the officer that he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel. Police say that Short then took— and failed— a field sobriety test.
“He was later transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center,” reported WTAJ, “where Short consented to a blood draw. That blood was then sent to Harrisburg for testing, where blood analysis showed .218% of ethyl alcohol.”

“We are aware of these charges and take this matter seriously,” Senior Associate AD for Communications for Penn State Athletics Kristina Peterson said in a statement. “As this is a personnel matter, we cannot comment further.”
Short is Penn State’s PGA Head Golf Professional. Per WTAJ, his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20 with Magisterial District Judge Donald M. Hahn.
