4-Star Georgia LB Raves About Penn State Official Visit

Penn State continued its national recruiting strategy over the weekend by having Class of 2026 four-star linebacker Rodney Colton Jr. from Georgiaโ€™s Newman High School for an official visit.ย

The biggest takeaway for Colton, he told On3Sports, is him being impressed with the program from a strategy and coaching perspective. Colton even remarked that Penn State โ€œhas everythingโ€ that he covets for his next destination.

โ€œWen I walked on the field,โ€ Colton said. โ€œIโ€™m not gonna lie, I could really feel it. It was really in me. Walking out and opening those gates, I know that has to be a great feeling with the crowd roaring. It really does feel like home there.โ€

Colton has been primarily recruited by linebacker coach Dan Connor.

From a scouting perspective, Colton is an elite prospect. The raw talent Colton possesses in speed, tackling and instincts make him elite.

The frame Colton possesses between wingspan, Coltonโ€™s ability to shed blockers, and room to bulk up make him an ideal candidate to be the next in line off the Penn State EDGE in similar vein to Chop Robinson and Abdul Carter.ย

Coltonโ€™s coverage skills are elite with his ability to be fluid in the hips along with his read and react skills from a vision perspective.

While Colton has not announced his top schools yet, his future official visits take the Top 20 linebacker nationally to Florida State (6/6), Ole Miss (6/13), and Colorado (6/20).
