ESPN’s Pat McAfee Picks WVU Over Penn State on College GameDay

Here’s who the members of ESPN’s College GameDay panel— including Pat McAfee and a celebrity guest picker– are picking in tonight’s Penn State-West Virginia game

Desmond Howard: I think that Drew Allar is going to be a hell of a quarterback for Penn State. But they won’t cover today (three-touchdown favorites).

Pick: Penn State

Pat McAfee, former West Virginia punter: Neal Brown is coaching for his job at West Virginia, and there’s a guy named Garrett Greene that’s going to play quarterback for West Virginia. He’s going to run wild over Happy Valley tonight. Give me West Virginia in another upset this evening.”

Pick: West Virginia

Editors note: McAfee spoke highly of Penn State on last week’s GameDay.

“They have eight returning starters on offense, eight returning startrs on defense,” he said. “It all comes down to the quarterback with Drew Allar. They had two freshman running backs last year than almost combined for two thousand yards.”

So does McAfee see Penn State challenging for the Big Ten championship?

He wouldn’t be surprised.

“They have it all, seemingly, on paper, to make a run,” Pat McAfee said, “it’s not just an Ohio State, Michigan conversation in the Big Ten.”

Guest picker Darius Rucker: I understand what you’re saying, and you would make Brad Paisley very, very happy, but you’re wrong.

Pick: Penn State

Lee Corso: Penn State, preseason number seven, win on defense. Penn State covers.

Pick: Penn State

Kirk Herbstreit: This is potentially the coming out party for Drew Allar, the quarterback who replaces Sean Clifford. A lot of excitement about him, but its really what’s around him. Dynamic playmakers, and a defense that could be one of the best in the country.”

Pick: Penn State
